Colorado - Weekend

Saturday morning we headed out to the Dragon Boat festival by the Bronco's stadium.  It was on a lake.  The had people park at the stadium and the buses shuttled people over to the lake/park.  We didn’t get there right at the beginning but in enough time to see them ceremoniously take the boats and launch them on the lake.  It turnout out to be a record high HOT day.  We didn’t pack enough water to compensate for it and thus were a bit dehydrated. Luckily we did grab the umbrella out of the car with and that helped tremendously.  We walked around and saw all the competing teams in the dragon boat races then went to the kids section.  There were tons of game booths set up.  However, you were suppose to pay to play any of them.  LAME! Then we walked around the shop booths.  The kids got tired pretty quick and we were all tired from the heat.  We splurged and got a coconut water in a real coconut made into a cup.  Then headed home. Laid low the rest of the day and drank lots of water and went to Red Lobster for dinner.

checking out the shops.  This was near the end and as you can see for Rue's red face we were tired, hot and needed water.
Our coconut water in a coconut.  Not a huge fan of coconut water, but it was yummy and refreshing after a long morning out in the sun.

the only free kid activity...coloring.  Good thing my girls love to color

We had Ada go pet this cute tiny pony. Once she had (she pet it as they were bringing it out to it's booth) they set up the area where you had to PAY to pet the pony.
There was one cute little booth that saw us and let the girls play the game for free.  It was very kind and the girls had a good time.

Sunday we went to church.  It was located nearby the mall Cherry Creek that we played at.  It was a very odd building.  The ward was very friendly and several people welcomed us.  The girls even went easily to primary and nursery.  It was nice to be able to actually go to gospel doctrine and RS.  I teach in Primary (Valiant girls), so I don’t often get adult time at church.  After church we decided to drive out and see the Denver Temple.  It was not so close to downtown Denver, but we made the trek.  It was a very beautiful temple. I wish we could have gone through a session, but this was the best we could do. Across the street was a nice grassy field.  We had gotten a kite to play with at the park with the girls earlier in the week.  It hadn’t happened so we decided to have some family kite time by the temple.  Sadly, there wasn’t enough wind and thus no success with the whole kite flying thing.  We went to dinner after and drove to the outskirts of town to get Krispy Kreams (Keith’s favorite).

Temple grounds were beautiful, of course.

This was the grassy area right across the street from the temple.  My running is a bit limited at 34 weeks pregnant, but Keith played around with the girls and it was just a beautiful place to spend the afternoon.
